INDIA

Gunjan Marwah

Departure Date: March 30

Gunjan considers herself to be just like any other AIESECer - a plethora of experiences and a strong passion for global change. This project will be her third international experience through AIESEC, and definitely not her last! Gunjan has a huge interest in the way technology is affecting global marketing and what this will mean for the emerging markets. The tech sector is a specific area of interest as she currently works with a startup while also representing Waterloo's top incubator, Communitech, as a Campus Ambassador. On the side, Gunjan also runs her own small photography business, something that she started with a grant from the Ministry of Ontario at the end of her senior year in high school.

Right now, Gunjan is in her 3rd year of univeristy on her way to complete a Bachelor in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing and a Minor in Religion & Culture Studies.

One of the first and most influential people she met in AIESEC was Carson Kolberg, a true champion and a past exchange participant who went to Chandigarh, India. When Gunjan heard that there was a need to enhance AIESEC Canada's exchange relations with India, she was in disbelief. Despite being heavily involved in the past few years, it was only recently that she had realized how a low number of Indian experiences has been delivered to Canadian students.

Now, Gunjan wants to be part of the change.

Gunjan's parents are from India and she hasen't visited her motherland in over nine years. At that time, she didn't have much of an appreciation for her culture, but have developed a strong love for her culture over the past few years. Despite the fact that she will not be able to visit her family, Gunjan will still seize this opportunity to explore a new city and experience the way the Indian society, infrastructure, and culture has changed over almost a decade.

Lastly, with the way the global business world is growing, an understanding of Indian business is necessary to further her invovlement in international business.

As of now, her goals are to introduce potenital Canadian interns to opportunities in India, create a business targeting plan to help our Indian counterparts create the right business partnerships for the types of skill sets we offer from Canada, and to create everlasting memories.
